Introduction
Molecular Sieve type 5A is an alkali aluminum silicate; it is the calcium form of the Type A crystal structure. Type 5A has an effective pore opening of 5 angstroms (0.5 nm). It will adsorb molecules with a kinetic diameter of less than 5 Angstrom and exclude those larger. It is especially suitable for PSA adsorb applications where it may be used for the separation of normal- and iso- par-affins (C4 to C6 species), in PSA hydrogen purification and in oxygen concentrators.

Application
Molecular Sieve 5A is generally used for multiple adsorption and refinement and can be applied for liquefied and gaseous materials on the whole. Main adsorbing target are carbon dioxide and sulfuretted hydrogen including water and it can adsorb all the material whose molecular diameter is less than 5A.
The main uses are as follows.
     1) Normal paraffin separating process 
      2) Oxygen/hydrogen PSA (Pressure Swing Adsorption) process          
     3) Ethanol refinement (moisture, CO2, etc.)
      4) Refining SF6 refrigerant for power (removing moisture and hydrocarbon)

Regeneration
Molecular Sieve Type 5A can be regenerated by pressure swing or purging, usually at elevated temperatures. The purge gas temperature must be sufficiently high to bring the molecular sieve to a level of 200°C - 300°C. A properly regenerated molecular sieve can produce water dew points below -100°C and CO2 or H2S levels below 2 ppm.
Storage Package
Prevention against moisture, let it away from water, lube oil, acid and alkali material. Package by 25 kg carton, steel drum, jumbo bag, etc are available.
